Emi was born and raised in Kumamoto, Japan, and moved to Tokyo to start her career with musicals, TV shows, commercials and backup dancing. She also worked as a cheerleader for Japanese professional Baseball teams. In 2012, she moved to NYC and trained extensively at the Ballet Arts Center. She built up her skills in diverse styles with teachers such as Cecilia Marta, Jessica Castro, Luam, Brian Green, Loose Joint, Ejoe Wilson and more. She perfomed at El museo del Barrio, New York City Hall, Alvin Ailey Theater and various other NYC stages. She worked as a company member of “Azul Dance Theatre” directed by Yuki Hasegawa, and performed at Dixon Place for NYFW and at Tribeca PAC. Emi is now an Instructor for at TMH Dance, Japan Center in New Jersey, and is excited to begin her journey with Kalamandir Dance Company!
