A cheeky piece surveying a magical world, Reve(a)l depicts the midnight meeting of two dancers, Donia Salem and Brinda Guha. Choreographer Malabika Guha (with Kalamandir Dance Company) crafts a pleasing blend of classical Indian dance seasoned with contemporary flair to a thumping soundtrack by Prem Joshua and SBTRKT. The two — attired in black tops, loose culottes, and full face masks painted with brightly hued designs — perform intricate wrist and hand actions complemented with stomping pirouettes and dramatic leg extensions. Exploring the mischief that unfolds while the world sleeps, Reve(a)l invokes the spirits and residents of a fabled forest.
